COMAC C919 Large Passenger Aircraft Program
COMAC C919 Large Passenger Aircraft Program (China)
As China’s first domestically developed large passenger aircraft, the C919 represents a major milestone in the country’s aerospace industry. Its transparent passenger windows and cockpit window frames—critical components linking safety, performance, and passenger experience—are manufactured using high-performance aviation aluminum materials developed by Conglin.
In this program, Conglin supplied advanced aluminum alloy materials for passenger observation windows and cockpit window frames, as well as other key structural components. These parts are required to operate reliably under extreme conditions, including high altitude, pressure fluctuations, and long-term cyclic loading.
How We Help Our Clients
Precision Materials for Extreme Aerospace Requirements
Aircraft window frames are among the most demanding aluminum alloy components in aviation structures. Each passenger window must withstand up to eight times atmospheric pressure, meaning an area the size of a fingernail must endure loads equivalent to 200 kg.
To meet these requirements, Conglin’s engineering team applied digital simulation, microstructure control, and precision processing, refining material grain structures with dimensional accuracy controlled within 0.01 mm. This ensures stable performance under extreme high-altitude conditions.
Ultra-High Dimensional Accuracy
Cockpit and passenger window frames must fit perfectly with the fuselage and glass, with dimensional deviations strictly limited to within 0.2 mm. Conglin successfully achieved this through a transition from conventional rough machining to near-net-shape precision processing, marking a significant advancement in China’s aluminum precision manufacturing capability.
Lightweight Design with Safety Assurance
To support aircraft weight reduction goals while maintaining safety, Conglin introduced new-generation aluminum alloy materials. After more than two years of intensive development and tens of thousands of tests, the team achieved breakthroughs in:
Forging performance
Stress corrosion resistance
Toughness and fatigue resistance
The resulting materials reached international advanced performance levels, meeting both extreme lightweight and long-term reliability requirements.
Result
Conglin’s aluminum materials have become a core structural element of the C919 aircraft, helping break long-standing foreign technology monopolies and supporting China’s transition to independent aerospace manufacturing.
With the C919 entering commercial operation, Conglin continues to advance next-generation aerospace aluminum materials, reinforcing its position as a trusted supplier for high-end aviation applications and contributing to the future of China’s civil aircraft industry.
